Old Red Lion Key Information

Visitors to Castle Acre are entranced by the special atmosphere of this medieval walled town, which lies within the outer bailey of an 11th century castle. Castle Acre is on the Peddars Way, an historic long distance path. The Old Red Lion, a former pub, is centrally situated and now carries on the tradition of serving travellers who seek refreshment and repose. Guests can stay in private rooms or dormitories, where bedding and linen are provided. The Old Red Lion offers exclusively wholefood vegetarian catering. A NON SMOKING policy obtains throughout.

There are quiet areas - the Snug, the converted Cellar and the Garden Room/Studio for reading and meeting other guests and playing. These flexible spaces are ideal for group activity, exhibitions and performance. These facilities are  particularly suitable for yoga, music, arts, education and drama events. The Old Red Lion can be hired for sole occupancy for workshops, courses, family occasions and retreats.

The Old Red Lion has been extended and now has an en-suite double bedroom, and a family room (sleeps 4) with a toilet for disabled people. Free space in this self-contained accommodation is available for group leaders who bring 10 or more guests in their party.
